Dr. HL Vijaya Kumar – Director/Principal, Vogue Institute of Art & Design, Bangalore
Dr Vijaya Kumar is the Director / Principal of Vogue Institute of Art & Design. He has 39 years of profound experience in teaching, administration, research and development. A seasoned professional, Dr Kumar proved his expertise in successfully growing institutes by introducing courses that stood out in the designing curriculum, building the right ecosystem for students to gain knowledge and industry exposure, et al. Dr Vijaya Kumar has also undertaken research and development projects from national and international funding agencies that have reached the industry. Technology developed for Knitting of Knitted garments using Indian silk and Low cost Dyeing machine for silk industry is already disseminated and commercialised. Few machineries were exported to Ethiopia and Malaysia. He is also mentor for Incubation centre of Tamil Nadu to advise the start-ups. Dr Kumar developed process technology to spin silk and Modal yarn and fabrics funded from Lenzing Austria.
In his previous capacity, Dr HL Vijaya Kumar worked with Bapuji Institute of Engg. and Technology, Davangere and Army Institute of Fashion and Design. He is the Chairman of Research Review committee, Karnataka Sericulture and Silk Technology, a member in Vanya silk marketing committee, and served as a member in several other advisories and committees which include Research advisory committee for Central Silk Technological Research Institute, Technical Advisory Board in Ministry of Textiles, Govt. of Karnataka, Technical Advisory Member for Garment Park, Ministry of Textiles, Govt. of Karnataka and Advisory board member of National Seminar & National Convention organized by Department of Apparel Tech. & management & IE(I).
Dr Vijaya Kumar achieved multiple awards and accolades which include ISTE National Award by UP Government for the best research work in the field of Science & Technology, REC Calicut National Award for designing of student projects. He was honoured by Hon Fellow of Textile Association India during the 71st All India Textile conference in 2016. He was also the Director, Davangere Textile Park Association to start Textile Park. He organized multiple national and international seminars in the field of design, including International conference on Functional Textiles and Apparel 2016, All India Textile conference at NIMHANS convention centre 2011, Bangalore, 35th ISTE National Convention and Seminar in 2005, et al
