Ever wondered about how it could be at a gemstone mine? Ask our jewelry designing students at Vogue Institute of Art & Design as they visited the Quartz mine which is located at KR Nagar Taluk, Mysore District, Mundur Village. Geologist Mrs. Nandini from the Government of Karnataka accompanied the students and spoke in-depth about the area structure formation of rocks and minerals. Through this visit, each student was educated about the process of mining from rough to cut and polish of the stones. The students could see the rough form of semi-precious stones like milky white quartz, Feldspar, mica mineral, Beryl (emerald), and could understand the geological formation, rock type, crystal system and habit of the mineral.
